Ms Jane Beaumont has been General Counsel and Executive Director Risk for the University of Tasmania since February 2019. Her early career was with Maddocks, Ambulance Victoria, TasNetworks and the Department of Treasury and Finance Tasmania, all in General Counsel or Senior Management level roles.

Jane was admitted as a Barrister and Solicitor of the Supreme Court of Tasmania, and Victoria, Australia in 2002 as well as a Barrister and Solicitor of the High Court of Australia. Jane is also a Fellow of the Governance Institute of Australia and a Chartered Secretary (FGIA FCG).

Jane is a Director of UTAS Properties Pty Ltd and Company Secretary for UTAS Holdings Pty Ltd and has been appointed Company Secretary for many entities including the Australia Quadriplegic Association Ltd (Victoria). Jane is also a Director of the Governance Institute of Australia (Tasmania), Australian Corporate Lawyers Association, Society of Australian Universities and Tasmanian Women Lawyers.
