Artistic skill and the results of a year of creative effort were celebrated at Thursday’s TCE Art Exhibition opening in the TM Hall.
The artwork on display was diverse, with media including painting, sculpture, photography, film, printmaking, drawing and graphic design.
“I was really impressed with the variety of artwork the students have created this year. They have produced a strong body of work, and this particularly evident in their art journals where the documentation of their year’s work is extensive and shows the high standard they have achieved. Many thanks to the Art Department and Maintenance staff for their hard work behind the scenes putting the exhibition together,” said Art Teacher, Miss Alex Pitt.
The Exhibition forms part of the required course work for the students and a panel of external judges will view the works and apply assessment ratings. The works need to show a creative concept, be cohesive and show supporting documentation.
The exhibition launch was attended by over 100 people who enjoyed drinks and canapés whilst viewing work by 18 Year 11 and 12 Art Production and Studio Practice students from Fahan. One student, Simon Leung, from Hutchins who studied the subjects as part of the Co-operating Schools’ agreement also displayed his work.
The Exhibition will be on display in the TM Hall until 21 November.
